What exactly IS Maximized Living?
No commentsA revolutionary program founded by Dr. Ben Lerner and Dr. Greg Loman, Maximized Living is about doing whatever it takes to get the most out of your body. In the beginning, Adam and Eve were designed to look good naked, or at the very least, look hot in fig leaves! However, due to sedentary lifestyles and a lack of exercise, we’ve all had trouble with that. Our program aims to make you look great by working out a few minutes each week and allowing you to get into the best shape of your life!
It’s critical to understand that at its core, Maximized Living is an entire life management program, one with an emphasis on good nutrition and a complete understanding of the benefits of stress management. As chiropractors, Dr. Lerner and Dr. Loman know that the nervous system is the key component to being healthy, fit, and living the life or your dreams!
Maximized Living is a simple concept—live life to the fullest. But what exactly does this mean? If everyone knew how to reach their maximum potential, they’d do it, right?
Not exactly. As part of a modern society, we’re regularly told how to live a healthy life and yet such advice is consistently ignored by many. The reasons are endless—lack of motivation, lack of proper information, or the seemingly infinite stream of excuses that trap us into a vicious cycle.
We want you to break that cycle by doing the very same things the Maximized Living team has done for years—building a family culture of exercise and nutrition, getting into shape and taking great care of yourself. This isn’t just another fad exercise program, this is part of your entire life!

High Intensity, Short Duration Exercise
No commentsThere is an article written in HubPages showing the pro’s and cons of low intensity, long duration exercise vs. high intensity, short duration exercise.
To familiarize you with the terms a little bit more - low intensity, long duration is like spending 45 minutes on a treadmill and not getting winded. High intensity, short duration exercise is what we call our “surges” and what 12 Minute Makeover is based on.
Although there are benefits to both, it shows that there really aren’t any negatives to doing high intensity, short durations exercises. This is mainly due to the fact that you do this at your own maximum (pace) and it helps you out not only to be fit, but it allows hormones, such as your endorphins to work in your favor.

How to Stop Poisoning Yourself When You Eat
No commentsMany of us don’t really think about what we put in our mouths each day or even how much we consume. It is amazing once you start writing a journal, like I did, to see what exactly we do eat! What is even more amazing is that if you have never had proper nutritional counseling, what we think is good for us or in moderation is sometimes still too much!
The Wiki How to Stop Poisoning Yourself When you Eat points out that:
Many colorings, additives, flavorings, and preservatives like sulfites, nitrites, nitrates, salicylates, propylene, and glycol are made up of the same materials as some of the chemicals you will find in household cleaners, in your medicine cabinets, or in maintenance products in your garage.
It is important to start learning about proper nutrition as you go through your 12 Minute Makeover transformation and start making new lifestyle changes. Take your time when doing this though - it is easier to do it step-by-step!

12 Minute Makeover Video Part 4: Maximize Your Surge - Exercise Routines
2 comments so farKey elements in getting the most of your surges is varying the exercises and making sure you are using your whole body. Making sure you get some core training exercises involved to keep your core (abs and back) strong are actually essential to getting the most out of your workout!
Did you know that by keeping your core strong you are affecting how your whole body will react to exercise? An article that I found in About.com explains core training in a little more detail:
The “core” actually consists of many different muscles that stabilize the spine and pelvis and run the entire length of the torso. These muscles stabilize the spine, pelvis and shoulder and provide a solid foundation for movement in the extremities.
In the 4th 12 Minute Makeover video, Dr. Lerner and his team demonstrate some new exercises to add to your routine!

Planning and thinking ahead will help you achieve more in less time. You’ll spend less time on routine tasks. You won’t be duplicating your efforts as often.
